The Kiwifruit tracks its origins back to northern China and was introduced to a worldwide market in the mid-20th century.
This seasonal fruit grows in temperate climates and is gaining popularity thanks to it be considered "nutrient dense”, containing more vitamin C than oranges and more potassium than bananas.
The main producers are Italy, New Zealand, and Chile, which combined make up 70% of the world production calculated to be to around 1.4 million metric tons and ensure year round supply to the world.
