Grapefruit

This citrus fruit whose name derives from the way it grows in grape-like clusters is originally from Barbados.  

 

The most known varieties of this sub-tropical fruit are red, white and pink and its taste varies from extremely sour to bitter sweet.

 

The grapefruit is produced mostly on warm subtropical climates. Worldwide production today is calculated to be around 8 million metric tons with main producers being China, the United States, South Africa, and Mexico.
